Home is a Rainbow
Home is a rainbow of colours. It isn’t just a single colour, it’s a whole spectrum, from red to green to purple. Each colour is a separate moment, but they all come together to make a rainbow of memories.
Red is the fire of a bonfire in the fall, as I roast marshmallows with my family. The gooey, warm s’mores we make taste the best when we’re together. The sparks from the fire seem like they’re dancing to a music only we can hear.
Orange is when my family and I go out to our favourite restaurant together. We talk and share favourite memories, laughing as my dad gets spicy hot sauce on everything. We might not go often, but the memories there I’ll never forget.
Yellow is the butter drizzled on top of hot popcorn, fresh from the microwave. My mom hands me and my brother a bowl to eat. It tastes better each time we have it.
Green is the smell of dinner, wafting through the house, a cue for me to come downstairs and eat. The dinner tastes delicious, but it’s not about the food - it’s when we talk together that’s important.
Blue is how I feel after a bad day. But I know that when I come home, my parents will ask me what’s wrong, making me feel better just by being there.
Purple is my comfy chair in my room, shining in the sunlight as I cozy up under fluffy blankets with a book. This soft, snug place makes me let go of my worries and relax. I feel so at ease, content when I’m in that chair, no matter what I’m doing.
So, home isn’t a single colour, a single memory, a single place. Home is a rainbow, and that’s why it’s special.
