A Place to Call Home

When do you feel truly safe and supported? For me, home is special because I am surrounded by my family who love me and encourage me every day. Home is not just a roof over my head - it is a place where I am heard, valued and able to share my thoughts. Home is where you are supported by your family. When you are supported you feel a weight lifting off your chest, everyone listens and understands you. When you are cared about you feel happy and warm, you feel like you can just let go and fly. Also when supported you can hold your head up high and believe. For example when I have a bad day I can count on my mom being there and listening to me. This is one way I feel supported. Next, when I hear the word home I think of safety. When I am at home I feel safe because I have two strong dogs, and a turtle that lights up and plays soft music. For example, when my whole family is watching a movie, I feel safe because of the warmth of the people I love most around me.These are the reasons I am safe at home. Another reason I love my home is because of communication that goes around. For instance the family dinners we have every night, the voices of everyone talking and the sweet, calm voice of my mother asking how our days were. This part of my day makes me feel included. In conclusion, home is a place where you feel supported,safe and that you can communicate. A house may be made out of wood and stone, but it is the family that becomes the glue holding it together.
