What Home Means to Me

What do you think when you think of home? To me, home is the place where I'm welcomed, loved, accepted, and definitely not seen as a stranger. Home to me is like a big warm hug that encourages me to look on the good side in any case, even when I feel like there is nothing good happening. I experience comfort in my home. In the kitchen, there's the most delicious smell that floats toward us. There, it “says” to us: it's lunch time! We don't just eat food though, we all gather together, share stories, and chuckle about funny memories. I guess you could call it having together-time. The living room is another place I experience comfort. It’s where we all gather to play, talk, or watch movies while munching on my mother’s scrumptious snacks, or my father’s popcorn. We laugh and have fun, while savouring the moment and food. While we’re having fun, having fun is all that matters at the moment. My family and I always make spectacular memories in my home. One way to capture them is to take a picture. But for me, no. The most precious photos are the forever printed memories in my mind. Every time we gather to talk, have fun, we create new memories, and I will remember and love each and every one. Do you understand now, what home means to me? If you still don’t, then allow me to simplify. My home is like the best and biggest treasure chest ever. Inside are treasures that NO amount of money or gold could ever buy. A few of these treasures are: family, peace, happiness, joy, and laughter. My home, family, and everything it gives, is better than any present I have ever received.
