My New Home

I used to have a place that I called home. A place I felt safe. A place I grew up. A place where I had friends, family, education. A place I felt special in my own way. A place I always called home. Why did I have to leave? Why did I have to say goodbye? Why couldn't I stay? I always wonder why I hadn't just stayed. I had questions, concerns, and I wanted answers. I wonder which is my home, Canada or Colombia? What is the place I can call safe now? What is the place I can call home now? I didn't understand. I was scared and confused. I just wanted to go back but I knew that wasn't possible anytime soon. But slowly but surely, I was adapting to a new place. A place I can start calling safe. A place with new friends, family, safety, education. A place with small ways to remember my home. Now this is a place… A place I can now call home. My home.
