A place I Can Call Home

A place I can call home is somewhere I feel loved and safe. Somewhere where I can be who I really am without feeling overlooked and judged. Home is a place where after a long day at school, when I walk in the door I'm greeted with open arms by the people I love and trust the most. All their affectionate smiles instantly brighten my day. Seeing my dog, Lola bolt towards the door in nothing but pure excitement. The concentrated look on everyone's faces as I cautiously roll the dice playing snakes and ladders on family game night. Laughter fills the room as we create some of my favorite everlasting memories. If home were a smell it would be the smell of the toasty ginger candle as we huddle around mesmerized by the luminance of the bright fire. Sipping on our hot chocolate with extra whipped cream and marshmallows. All bundled up in millions of layers of blankets, hiding from the cold, breezy air that awaits us outside. But to some, home may not be a place, a house, nor a country. Home may not be somewhere but someone. Someone who gives you that warm fuzzy feeling. Someone who you just know you can go to whenever for whatever reason. To me that is more than one person. Those people are my family. My family was always there for me and always will be. No matter where I am, if I am with them I am automatically home. I love my home and there's nowhere else I would rather be. By Sophia
