What Does Home Mean to Me

Home! It may sound like a simple word, but to me it means so much more than just a place where you live. When I think of home,I think of a safe place where I can truly be myself. Home is where I feel like I belong, where memories are made, and where I can laugh, learn, and grow without being judged. It' s where we can celebrate birthdays,Thanksgivings, Christmas, New Year’s, and all the moments in-between. To me, home is another word for family. Being home means spending time with the people who care about the most. When I am with my family, I feel confident and supported. I can tell my funny jokes, even the ones no one laughs at, and still feel loved. Home is the place that helps me stay positive, even when things get hard. If I’ve had a hard day, I know I can come home and feel comforted. Home even helps me stay focused on my schoolwork, because it is where I feel calm enough to think and learn. A lot of people think home is just a place where you relax, watch television, or take a break from work. To me, from a child’s perspective, home means fun. Why? Because at home, all my favourite things are right within reach, my snacks, toys, games, and favourite shows. Whenever I am somewhere else, I often must wait before I can enjoy them, but at home, they are right there waiting for me. Some people might think that home is just a building or an address, but I don’t agree. To me, home is a feeling. It’s my happy place, the place I look forward to being every day. Whether others see it the same way is not, home will always be the place that makes me feel safe, loved, and truly myself.
