Meaning of Home

What does home mean to me? It’s a question that really makes me think because home is a feeling and a thought, not just a place. Home feels like safety, the people I love and spend most of my time with are there for me, with me all the time to keep me safe and comfortable. I can be silly with my family and express my emotions of how I really feel. Home is a thought, it gives me time to think. Whenever I come home from school, I walk in the door and sigh. I feel relieved that I’m home and I can go to my private place in my house (my room) and think about my life. I just lay on my bed and relax thinking about all different things and my thoughts. Home is a place I can unwind after a long day without anyone around me. I feel safe being under a roof so that I can be myself and be with my family. I live with my Mom, Dad, and brother. I have been in the same house since I was born and I’ve never known what it feels like to move to another home. Wherever I think of moving it scares me because it is a place that I have made memories in since I first came home. The pictures on the walls tell stories and I don’t believe they would belong in any other house. That’s home to me, a feeling, a thought, and a place. It’s the closest thing to my heart and I truly feel that everyone needs one so they can feel and experience the same special feeling I do.
