Home Is Family

The meaning of home is not the stuff that’s in it. Think of a pot of oatmeal, it is warm, topped with berries, and tastes good. A home is warm with all the hugs you get and a home is topped with laughter and love. A home tastes good with all the yummy meals you eat. Home is a safe place where you can be honest with anyone inside. A place where you can express your feelings, whether you're happy, excited, sad, mad or confused. It is safe because you have people that care about you and would do anything to protect you. A home has homemade meals like spaghetti, mashed potatoes, or even microwave pizza. Those meals are what I look forward to with the people I love, especially after a long day at school or a gymnastics practice. In my house, the people are most important. The people in your home could be your parents, siblings, grandparents, and anyone else that you love! Memories are also a big one for me. They make you think about the fun you had in the past. Joy is also a part of home. You may be thinking it’s just a feeling, but it’s much more! My home is valuable with all the warmth that is in it…physically and emotionally comforting. It is also valuable because of how things feel around you. Like your bed, the chairs at the dinner table, and the feeling of the couch you had movie nights on. Also, there are the smells. The smell of your moms perfume or maybe the smell of your bed sheets after they get washed. That’s what the meaning of home means to me. Thank you to Habitat For Humanity for helping everyone find a place to call home.
