What Home Means To Me

Whenever I think of my home the first thing that comes to mind is my family. This includes my dad, my mom and my older sister. Even though we sometimes argue about small things, like how long I play video games or how I didn’t finish all my chores, we always care about each other no matter what happens. My family cheers me up when I am feeling down because I might have lost a game in basketball or received a disappointing grade on a test. My mom and sister usually help me when I have homework (especially French). Knowing that they are always there for me and how they do things for my best interest, makes our house feel warm and welcoming with amazing memories. Home is a place where I can be myself. After a long day at school, I can watch the Toronto Raptors, talk about my day, and not worry about being judged about what I have to say. I like sitting at the table with my family at dinner time when we all had a busy but amusing day. Also, I love when we all share stories about what happened at school and work. At times it’s funny stories, other times it’s about tests or projects or sometimes it’s something not too good. Once in a while, my family may feel some of my stories are not interesting, but they always listen because they know it’s important to me. Living in Milton makes my home even more special. I like that it is a nice, diverse and friendly town. There are many landmarks that are unique to Milton such as the Niagara Escarpment, the Velodrome and the many man-made ponds, especially the one outside of my backyard. Whenever I see familiar streets and neighbors, it makes me feel like I belong here and that this whole town is my home. To me, Milton is my favourite town in Ontario because this is the town where some of my family lives and all my friends live, but most of all, I have a very friendly school that encourages me to learn, grow and work harder than ever. My teachers, Mme Baltaga and Ms Horst are exceptional teachers. They make sure I put in the most effort possible in every assignment and they make the lessons very interesting for everyone. To me, home is more than walls and furniture. It is the people who love me, the teachers who teach me, the special landmarks, the memories we all create, and the feeling of being special and loved every day. Even when I grow up, I will always remember what home felt like at eleven years old, living in Milton with two amazing teachers and a family of four who will always make sacrifices for me and love me no matter what.
