What Home Means to Me
A house is a structure. A home is much more. It’s a place where I belong and where I can be myself, I can be silly, happy and sad but no matter what I am, I am me.
To me, home is like a hug because every day when I get home I get a giant hug from my whole family. Whenever I get a hug I feel me, I feel who I am. When I get a hug I feel warm and cozy. I love hugs, they are amazing.
To me, home is full of feelings. Feelings like love, happiness and sometimes even sadness. It's where you can express your feelings without feeling like you have to hide them. I feel like home is a safe place to express your feelings no matter how you feel. Home is a place where I feel loved and accepted. I feel loved at home because I am never forgotten or left out.
To me, home is also about culture. Culture is a big thing in my family, we have traditions, customs and even food that develop who we are. These customs make our family feel closer together. My mom always says that on days when one of my family members is not at home it feels like something is missing.
To me, memories also help to build our home. Home is where you can store memories and they will never be forgotten. Some of my favourite memories include playing games, watching movies, slumber parties with my cousins and having dance parties, karaoke nights and talent shows. It would be so nice to hear the stories the walls would tell if they could talk.
Thank you to Habitat for Humanity for all of these projects that you are doing on helping people create not just a house but a home.
