What home means to me

My kitchen is filled with joy and laughter. I can smell the hot turkey soup ready for me on the table. I can feel the warm steam off of my spoon after taking my first bite. My family being at the table makes me feel happy and welcome. My family is always telling jokes at the table. I love hearing my dad tell the worst jokes because it always makes everyone laugh even though it’s not funny. I love to eat ice cream at the table with my family because me and my little sister end up with ice cream mustaches. It’s so funny when I get ice cream on the tip of my nose because everyone is just staring at me and glancing at each other, giggling. My living room is like a family play pen. I love playing board games with my family because everyone is laughing, and having so much fun. My family and I also wrestle and my dog will join in too and it makes us all laugh. I love playing tug-of-war with my dog because he’s a puppy and he’s not that strong, so it’s easier for me to win. My living room is where I feel really safe. Just having my family around and seeing them makes me feel safe. My bedroom is where I can do many things. I draw funny characters, sketch dresses, and sketch fruits. When I lay down in my bed I feel relieved. My bed is cozy and feels like a bear hug. Whenever I turn on my lamp, it makes me feel calm and relaxed. I love my bedroom so much, it’s my happy place. It doesn't matter what part of my home I'm in, there will always be love, hope, laughter, and memories, good and bad. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for helping other families get a home and live a better life. Many people don’t have shelter and I know that you guys are making a huge difference in the world, keep it up!
