HOME IS WHERE MY HEART IS… (A Free Verse Poem) BY: SAM CHO AGE: 9 / GRADE: 4 Home is where my heart is… Home is where my family and my pet lives. My pet rescue cat Andy, that we adopted in 2022, and my pet snails, in my glass terrarium is where my heart really lives. I love my family. Whenever I see them, my heart is full of happiness. Their smiling faces and hugs, warms my heart. My black cat, Andy brushes his fluffy tail on my teary face to cheer me up whenever I feel sad. Also, my eight garden snails are always sliming around my hand, asking me for the sweet, crunchy, delicious red lettuce that is always gobbled up, as soon as they see it. Home is where I can feel warm and protected by my family and pets. It is where, I can relax and be myself. I can laugh really loud at whatever and play Super Mario whenever, I have free time and just take it easy. That is home to me. Home is where my heartwarming memories were made. Moments like having my first steps or adopting my first, ever pet and bringing it home, or celebrating birthday is really special. Home is a fun, cozy place, where these kind of special memories are made. Home is where I can feel thankful that I have a house. There are many people that do not have a home, and that should change. Having a home should not be a luxury or be taken for granted. Everybody should have a home. It should not be a tent or a spot in front of a busy store. It does not matter if you’re rich or poor, a home should be a necessity. Home is my favorite place to be, and it should be yours too. Home is where my heart is…
