My Home

What makes a house a home? For me it's family. With family comes memories, love, belonging, safety and support. Love. My family shows me that they love me by giving me hugs. Safety. My parents make me feel safe and comforted when something bad happens to me or my siblings. Memories. I have fun and silly memories with friends, pets or family members. For example, my little sister and I sitting by the campfire roasting warm, gooey, and yummy marshmallows with each other. Also, walking in the door to my home after school when my papa's making delicious raisin oatmeal cookies filling the air with a baked good's smell. Support. Feeling supported by my family in big events or activities by coming to a soccer or volleyball game. I feel like I matter in my home. Belonging. I feel like I belong at my home, so I be myself. Also, my parents understand when I get home from school, and I've had a rough day. I can talk to my family and they make me feel better. I really enjoy having my family at home with me and when we're spending time together, like watching movies and having game nights. Home to me feels like a place where I can be myself, feel comfortable, be happy and safe. Home will always be a place where I feel like I can belong, feel loved, feel safe, supported and make memories.
