Home Sweet Home

Home is more than two stories and a door Also more than walls and a floor Home is the smell of cinnamon toast And a big wall with trophies to boast At home are my siblings and I fighting on who gets more But huddling together when the lightning strikes with a “roar”! Home is a place where Ramadan decorations hang long and far And a place where we happily eat my mom’s homecooked iftar Home is a story, more than a million pages long And a place to be you without feeling wrong Home is watching TV with my siblings, and watching videos about mystery And being a bit embarrassed by our interesting watch history Home is reviewing what we learn And always remembering to wait our turn Home is my mom styling my messy hair And when I leave for school, feeling the cold outdoor air Home is a place where we happily share And measuring stuff and saying “Hey, that’s not fair!” Home is a place that might not always feel the same But not a place where we play the blame-game Home is a place we rest in winter, summer, spring and fall And a place where we have fun in them all! Home is a place one place when I feel comfy wherever I are And place where we drive to fun places in the car Home is a place with no judgmental bullies And a place to feel awesome and happy Home is a place where I always find my unique family And where me and my siblings ride our scooters happily A house is a temporary place for treasurery Home is a happy memory Habitat for Humanity makes places like this And for some people, this is truly a bliss
