Who Is Home?

Who is home to you? Home to me is my loving family, the delicious food, and the interesting culture. In the first place, home to me is my loving family who care for me, provide shelter, and do fun activities with me. To begin, family is a big part of home. My family supports me with advice, feeds me, and helps me with things I can’t do. My dad always helps me with my homework, and my mom gives me advice. As well as, they shelter me. They protect me from bad weather, allow me to have my own room, and give me space to sleep. Without my family, I would be sleeping on the streets. Another example of my family would be the fun activities. We often host celebrations, watch movies together, and sometimes we do big crafts and board games. To me, spending time with my family is important because you never know how long they will be with you. To summarize, a family who loves me more than anything, shelters me, and take with on amusing activities. Additionally, the food is also a big part of home because it’s part of culture, I'm a picky eater, and I get all meals. For an example, cultural foods can be palachike, ćevapi, oblatne, etc. As well as Canadian food, like poutine, maple syrup, and more. Another reason is, I’m a picky eater. At home, my dad cooks that I like, but at other places, (restaurants, friend’s house) it’s harder for me because I don’t have what I like. Likewise, at home I get all meals. Breakfast, dinner, and snacks. ( I tend to have snacks instead of lunch.) All together, the nourishment that home supply’s is also what makes home so great. Finally, it couldn’t be home without culture. Language, activities, and cultural rules/beliefs are the final thing that makes home, home. Like I was saying, language is also a contribute! At home, my family and I speak English and Serbian. Sometimes, when my grandparents come over, I speak French with my grandpa. As well as, activities such as Slava, Serbian Christmas, and Saint-Nickolas. At Serbian Christmas, my grandmother makes a special bread that we rip apart. She puts a coin in the bread and whoever gets the coin wins $50. Finally, cultural rules and beliefs. My culture changes my way of life completely. Some cultural beliefs I follow are superstitions. We do things like knocking on wood, saying rabbits at the start of each month, etc. Culture is also a way of life! My dad is orthodox, and my mom is a type of christian, which means they grew up very differently. It also made my childhood more different, with my dad being more intense, and my mom being more understanding. In the end, all these reasons are what makes home such an amazing place to be. I can’t wait to go home.
