What Is Home?

Is a house the same as a home? They both have walls, a roof and doors, but a home is filled with love, memories and feelings. Nobody should be without a house, everybody deserves a home. A house has heat, but a home has warmth. The warmth in my home comes from my mom. Waking up with a warm hug is the best start to my day. Whenever I’m sick my mom makes me hot black tea and she lets me snuggle on the sofa with my blanket and pillow. Hearing my mom rattling in the kitchen makes me feel warm and safe. A house has food but a home has meals. When I arrive home from school and open the front door, I am greeted by the smell of my mom's delicious food waiting for me. Every night my family sits down for dinner and we talk about our day. It always helps me let go of my worries and also share stories of my day. A house has security but a home has safety. I remember when I was little I was scared of the dark and my parents were always there to comfort me; distracting me with a story and a hug. Now when I can’t fall asleep because I am angry or sad, my mom comes in and we talk until I’m tired. For me what makes my house home is my sisters, brother, and my parents. However, not everybody has that kind of family, sometimes people choose their family. Still, other people like to come home to quietness, or a loving pet. A house can be empty but a home is always full. Filled with love and memories, warmth and safety, but the most important thing is everybody should have a house to call home.
