Where Is My Home?

My home is my happy place, and my happy place is with my family. After we moved from Nigeria, though I was young, I felt like my happy place was stripped away from me. I was in a new place and knew no one and I felt very scared. Then when it was Christmas, people I didn’t know and didn’t know me decided out of the goodness of their hearts to help me and my family feel at home. They brought us a turkey and gave us presents. They made us feel at home just like our family back home in Nigeria would have. They wanted us to feel like we had a family here in Canada and truthfully, I had started feeling at home. We got our very first house and That was also the starting point of when my happy place started to re-shape itself it wasn't just put into one box it could move it was free. That new house was where most of the memories for six years of my life were made; it was my home and my new happy place. I could do anything without being judged, where my voice was heard, and where no matter what I did, my family still loved looking past all the mistakes I made. No mistake was too big to hide the love they had for me. Each member of my family loved me in their own special ways, like my mom loved me by making sure I always had delicious different foods to eat. My brother loved me by always being there for me at school and at home. He laughed with me and when I was sad, he hugged me. My dad loved me by making sure I had a good education and that made me feel so much at home.
