Home: My safe and happy place

People around the world call different places home. Some people call Asia home, and others call North America home. Some people have houses and some have little huts as their homes. To me, the meaning of home is a place where you feel safe, happy and cared for. Home is where you can be wearing mismatched clothes, be your silliest, fight with your siblings and cuddle with your parents. I can not imagine doing these things anywhere else. Now let's talk about the different places I have called home. The first place I called home was a basement apartment. It was a cozy place. It had no stairs, so my parents never had to worry about me rolling off them. I did not have any friends there, except my brother. I was six months old anyway. We then moved to Ajax in a small community called the Pickering Village. I had no idea about the move as I just had to goo goo gaga all the way to our new home. In Pickering Village, I learned how to crawl, walk, run and basically grow. Even though I was little, I enjoyed going out to play with the neighbourhood kids. I loved spending time with my family. But, COVID came, and we spent a lot of time together. My dad started working from home as well. I was not able to go out and play in the neighbourhood, and then after some time, we moved to another house again. Our new house was still in Ajax. The new space was more spacious, especially the big backyard. It soon became a cozy home as my family settled in. I started kindergarten, but it was at HOME, on a laptop. It was “too much home” indeed. Slowly, things got better, I started school in person. I made friends. My friend visited my home. Home felt more fun and I still love showing my friends everything I have. I feel my home is bigger, exciting and cleaner when someone visits. In conclusion, my home is where my family is. Home gives me shelter and keeps me safe. Home is also a place where my friends can visit. Home is where I feel special. I am the princess and the maid of my home. I am so grateful for having the blessing of a place to call home!
