Where My Heart Feels Whole

Home is more than a pile of bricks and siding. To me, home is a feeling that lives in my heart. It’s where I feel safe, loved, and understood. No matter what kind of day I’ve had, being home lets me breathe easier and be myself. At home, I live with my Mommy, my Ba Ba, and my two pesky brothers Alistair and Milo. My parents love me unconditionally, and support me in everything that I do. They celebrate even my smallest triumphs, and always ask me about my day when I come home. I’m sure my brothers could win a world record for “Most Aggravating”, but home wouldn't be the same without them. Home is where I’ve learned new things, practiced my hobbies, and shaped who I am and who I will be. I sing in the living room, lick the baking spoon in the kitchen, and cozy up to read a good book in my bedroom. Every nook and cranny of my home is packed with memories. My home has taught me so many life lessons. It is where I have learned gratitude, patience, and collaboration. Thinking about my home makes me remember to appreciate what I have, and to be kind, respectful and polite to others. I wish that everyone could be lucky enough to have a safe space that gives them the same feelings of comfort and security as mine does. Home isn’t perfect, but it’s filled with love, growth, and meaning. It’s where the people that are closest to my heart are, and my safe space to be me. It’s not just where I live, it’s where my heart feels whole.
