What Home Means To Me

To me, home is a feeling, not just a building. My home is full of memories. It is a cozy place where I feel relaxed after a long day at school. When I walk in, I know I am in a safe, calm and comfortable environment. When I come inside from the cold, I feel my shoulders drop, and my muscles loosen up. I smell food cooking and see my mum smiling in the kitchen. That tells me I am really home. I hear my family laughing and talking and my brother painting in the corner. Their voices make my home come alive. My mom calling my name from the kitchen saying “dinners almost ready” makes me feel like I really belong there. My mum's food is the best. She makes all my favourite food. One of the best parts of home is when I lie down in my bed. My blankets feel warm from the dryer. I throw on my PJ’s and I am immediately in my comfort zone. I grab some snacks and turn on the TV and then, I just unwind. I love my home. There are so many things to do, like play on my Nintendo Switch or be on my phone/iPad. I enjoy playing with my toys, and I love watching movies. In the evenings, I play in my yard. My front yard is massive. I can play all kinds of sports like soccer and basketball with my neighbours. In the winter, we play in the snow or play tag around the snow mountains, and we are often in each other's houses to get snacks. I love being able to know where everything is in my house. It is unique. My home is where I feel loved, and it's where I can do what I want without being judged. This is what home means to me.
