Home

A house is made of bricks and mortar. It’s a building that gives you shelter. A Home is where you learn to walk, run, talk, and make memories with your loved ones. Home is where you can be yourself and always feel accepted. Home is a feeling of love. I think of home like a tree. The roots are the lessons you learn. The roots are the values you are taught. The roots keep you grounded in a safe place. The trunk of the tree is your family. They gather to support you, and they protect you from the dangers of the world. They make you strong when you feel weak. The trunk is also responsible for delivering water and food to the branches just like your parents feed you to help you grow. The branches of the tree hold the leaves and with good food, water, and sunlight the treetop will be full of leaves, flowers and fruits. Just like people. They are different colours and kinds. Without the roots and the trunk, it would not grow. Just like a home without your family would not feel the same. Sadly, not everyone has a home like this, but Habitat for Humanity is helping to turn dreams into reality. It starts with a house. A place for shelter and it turns into a home. A place to learn and grow and love.
