What Home Means To Me
Home is a word that sounds small, but it holds a lot inside it. At first, I thought home was just a house, with walls and a roof. But the more I think, the more I realize home is a feeling that follows me, especially after a long day.
After school, my backpack feels heavy. My head is full of noise. When I walk through the door, everything changes. The outside world feels far away. My mum is in the kitchen, and she has fresh food ready. She doesn’t always ask how my day was, but she already knows. Sitting down to eat makes me feel calm, like I can finally breathe. That moment shows me home is where I am taken care of, even when I don’t say anything.
Home is also a place of safety. People aren’t the only ones who need a home; animals do too. Birds build nests high in trees. They fly far during the day but always come back. The nest protects them from the cold, wind, and danger. It may not be perfect, but it is safe.
I feel like that bird sometimes. Every morning, I leave home to face the world. School can be tiring. But I know at the end of the day, I can come back to a place where I belong. Home protects me, not with branches or walls, but with care, warmth, and understanding.
Home is not just where I live. It is where I feel safe, supported, and understood. Like a bird returning to its nest, I know that no matter what happens, I always have a place to come back to. That is what home means to me.
