What Home Means to Me
For me home has never been a place I have wanted to get out of. Or a place where secrets are kept. Home is not a place where you feel uncomfortable or not accepted. Home is a place where coziness is common. Home is where happiness is, and where memories are made together.
Home is where you sit around a fire sharing stories where happiness and love spreads through each other. Home is where you can sit around a campfire roast marshmallows and tell scary stories with family skating on the ice in your backyard. Home is where it is kind and inclusive and an amazing place to be. Home is where you always should feel warm and never uncomfortable.
Home is where memories are made with pets and family. Old pictures hang on the wall as if they are little books describing our life journey. Memories are also made by meeting new family members and spending time with them during the holidays. Memories are made by going on family trips and seeing the rocky mountains and sharks on the east coast.
My hometown is where a delightful smell comes to you as Mom and Dad cook your most treasured meal you have ever had. Home is where you tell the most entertaining stories at the dining room table about your day. Home is where if you have a bad day your family comes and brightens it up. And where warmth fills the room.
I thank the owner of my home for letting us rent it. This is what home means to me and what it should be for everyone. Nobody should ever feel unwelcome in their house or not have a home. All of humanity should be housed.
