Home is Everything
There’s a difference between a house and a home.
A house is a vacant building with four walls, a roof, and a door. A home is much more than that.
Home is a place where love overflows with special people you share memories with. Where there’s comfort and love ensured... special places too. There’s the living room, filled with laughter, bliss and lots of memories. Then there’s the exceptional bedroom with a warm duvet and fuzzy pillows.
I remember moving from Nigeria to Canada. I was really filled with sorrow, leaving everything behind... Well, most things, but my mum and dad always tell me “It’s never too late to try something new”. So, I cheered up a bit and when I got here and I was amazed but the wind blew me away, literally!
I’m used to it now, I guess. The cheerful moments, encouraging moments, and EVEN the sobering moments are all part of wonderful memories I’ve shared with my family which I’ll never forget. I’ll never forget about my home. I made new friends and I’m loving my new home. Home may mean something entirely different to you but to me, this is what home means.
So, thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for allowing people to know what home truly means and letting them know it’s never too late to try something new. This is what home means to me.
