Home Sweet Home

This is my home, My home where memories are made, A place where love is abundant, Home is not a place, it is a feeling. I see a television playing my dad’s favorite show, My sister playing the piano, And my mom, washing the dishes, Home is not a place, it is a vision. I hear my sister playing the piano, The faint sound of TV, And the clinking of the dishes, being washed by my mom, Home is not a place, it is a sound. I touch my bed as I drift to sleep, The softness of my pillow as I lay my head, The warmth of the mug with hot chocolate, Home is not a place, it is a sensation. I smell the aroma of my mom’s cooking, I smell the dish soap from my dad washing the dishes, The paint smell from my sister artwork, Home is not a place, it is a scent. I feel cozy, I feel the glow from my carpet, The comfort of the corner of the sofa as I bundle up to read a book, Home is not a place, it is an emotion. Home is a shield when you need it, Home is a place where moments are cherished and honoured, Home will be there when you need it, Home is not a place, it is a feeling.
