The Meaning of Home

A house is important for shelter and rest from the outside world. A home is more than this! A home has more than 4 walls and a sturdy roof. My home is a feeling that greets me each time I enter. It's a feeling of security, comfort, belonging, and safety. A house can be big or small, traditional or modern but it's the people that greet me inside that make my house a home. My home is full of smells of home cooked meals, full of people ready to greet me, full of laughter, love, and sometimes chaos and arguments. But always a place of acceptance and peace. I’ll always remember all of the memories made here. Memories that have made me who I am and will continue to mold me into the person I am to become. I think of hot summer afternoons, snowy winter nights and exciting thunderstorms. My house provided shelter from the weather but my home keeps the memories inside. My home has taught me love and respect that I can now shine onto the rest of the world, I'm so thankful for my house for providing me with shelter and a place to lay my head but I'm even more grateful for my home and the person it has helped me become.
