The Meaning of Home

Home is not a place you live, home is not a place at all. It is a feeling. It is a feeling of laughter, joy, and love. Home is a place where you grow up young wanting to leave, but grow old wanting to return. It is the place where you listen to the words of wisdom your parents tell you, and where you mouth their words to the young. Home smells like the fire on a cold winter night when my family cuddles up and talks by the fire. We are surrounded by the beautiful memories in the walls and breathe the love in every breath we take. Home feels like the warm blanket my parents tuck me into before I tightly hug them and kiss them goodnight. The softness of the blanket and sheets always brings me the best dreams during these cold days and nights. Home sounds like the laughter of me and my sister playing in the halls and outside, happily getting along. The sound of the laughter makes my parents smile every time we pass by. Home looks like a place where you can feel comforted by anyone you see, even in the roughest of times. Home looks like a place where the paintings around you hold the memories of the past and the floor you're stepping on holds the path of the lives others have had. Home is the place where everyone longs to go. It is a place where I can be guided by God's plan for my life. A place where I can believe what I want to believe. A place of love and laughter. Home.
