Home Stays Within My Heart

Home is not a place, like a house or a cottage. It is where my loved ones are. Wherever they go, wherever my home goes. My house might give me shelter, but home gives me love, trust and a sense of belonging. My home is where I matter, where I know I am safe. Home gives me the freedom to be myself without being judged by others. It is where I feel secure and protected. Home takes place in my heart, with that warm feeling inside. A light in the darkness, it is where I trust to be. My heart is filled with memories from home that can never be replaced. The warm smell of my mother cooking, the sound of my puppy barking. Home. There is no other place in the world where I feel as loved, trusted and safe. The community that I grew up in, where all my closest friends are. A place where we are all equal, playing together and supporting each other. A home stays with me, through dark and through light. A home stays within my heart, forever and ever, for we will never part. Everyone should have a home, a place where they feel protected and loved. Some people aren’t as fortunate as me; they might not even have people they love and take care of. I hope that Habitat for Humanity can build a safe, sustainable future for all of us.
