The Place I Belong

Home. The people you can trust and love. They will always treat you fairly. Your parents, who raised and grew up with you. Siblings. Sometimes you get into a fight with them but they will still help you in whatever way they can. Grandparents. Eveytime you visit them, they will greet you with warm smiles and open arms. Pets. Whenever you feel down or upset, snuggling with your pet will be the perfect medicine. Home. A feeling that never goes away. The feeling of protection when you are in your parents’ arms, wrapping around you like a blanket. The feeling of pride when you stand on stage, receiving an award while your family claps and cheers for you. The feeling of gratitude when they buy a birthday present for you. Home. A place you can cuddle up in your beanbag chair and read your favorite books. Where you can get lost in the amazing world of Mark Twain and Roald Dahl. Home. A simple four letter word that is filled with meaning. H stands for happiness. Something that makes you happy might be as simple as a hug from a family member or biting into a delicious brownie. O stands for openness. It could be running into your parent’s arms after an exhausting day at school or welcoming someone you love into your home. M stands for memories. Home is filled with memories from long, long ago. When you grow up and look back, those unforgettable moments will still be in your heart. Finally, E stands for excitement. The anticipation of coming home and having a family movie night with a bowl of popcorn in your lap. As Dorothy says in the Wizard of Oz, “There’s no place like home.”
