Meaning of Home

Home is a powerful word; it can mean so many things to different people. Home can be anywhere you feel happy, there is even a saying, “home is where the heart is.” Today, I would like to share with you what home means to me. Firstly, to me a home is a comfortable place to be. It’s always there when you need time to relax and wind down or maybe think about your day. You can have your own favorite spot, or everyone in your family could share a favorite spot like on the couch or even outside somewhere. Think about your special spot, and how much it means to you…that’s what home is about. Home is a privilege. Some people have no homes, in fact, in Canada there is 35,000 people on the streets on any given night. Sometimes, we take a roof overhead for granted, but sadly not everybody has those rights. There are several reasons why people are homeless, but the main thing is to remember how lucky you are to have a home. Lastly, home is family. A family is a key part to a home, they are people to talk to when you are feeling sad or down and they are people you enjoy being with and doing things with. When I come home from school, I am always eager to see my family. Family is particularly important because some people lose family members, and a home is a place where you can cherish the memories with the family you have. In conclusion, I would like to say, I hope this is what home means to you, and that you remember how fortunate you are if you have a meaning of home.
