This is Home for Me
Is there a place where you can be calm and yourself? For me there is, and it is home. Not just a structure, though. It is sounds, tastes, smells, feelings, and people, too. Home sounds like my kitten Oreo scratching her way out of my mom’s bedframe and her collar jingling as she walks up to us and meows at us. Home also sounds like my dog Milo barking for absolutely no reason at all. For me, home tastes like a fresh and juicy, medium-rare perfectly seasoned smoked and then seared steak with peppercorn sauce after a swimming class or bacon and eggs on a Saturday morning. One of the best feelings is to score a goal in soccer and then do a knee slide because it is the sport I love. Movie night is also a great feeling because I get to spend time with either my mom or my dad and my brother. Honestly, the best feeling is being with friends and family because they are the people I love. It also feels like getting hit by burning hot grease when I am cooking bacon. Also getting help from my dad when I was learning how to cook steak. These are three smells of home: Fresh muffins just out of the oven, onion soup still in the pot, and brisket finely unwrapped after 12 to 14 hours of cooking.
