Home Sweet Home

Home is where I can have fun with family without constantly being on protocol. Or where I can devour food after my parents make a huge grocery haul. When I wake up to my mom’s bubbling, boiling water to make her tea. Now that… I can always guarantee. The smell of coffee brewing every morning. My home is so unconditionally warming. Home, where I hear my family laughing at a dad joke with glee. Or waking up to the smell of rich, creamy coffee. The freezing chocolate colored hardwood my feet hit when I get out of bed. Most of my sister's books lying around all unread. That’s what home means to me. Home. The freezing unpredictable Canadian wind on my face. Or extra gloves in my pocket just in case. The Native Canadian loon gracefully swimming in the Grand River. The cold winter air makes me shiver. But once winters over then comes summer I really like winter but now it’s over. That's a bummer. There’s buds on the trees. The pollen makes you sneeze. And there’s a nice light breeze. That’s what home means to me.
