The Magic of Home

Home is something that we care about. I couldn't imagine life without a home. Home is the feeling of a cold winter night when you're sitting on the couch watching a movie with your family, eating popcorn. Home is where we discuss social justice and human rights. Home is where we plant flowers in our backyard. Home is where we talk about our feelings, not caring what other people say. Home is when we are sitting around the fireplace, the hearth. Hestia represents the central fire in Greek mythology. She is the Greek goddess and protector of all homes, all throughout the world. When all the other gods and goddesses were fighting, she would be around the fire, tending the flames, only caring that everybody got home safe. In my home I do not have a fireplace, but I always imagine one there. But my house is not my only home. I think of a park not far from my house, a home as well. Catching crawfish during the summer, going for long runs in the fall. The feeling of home is not only in my house. It follows me in the winter when I'm making snow angels in the front yard, saying that I could stay there forever, while my aunt lectures me that that is how people get hypothermia. Home is a dimension of love and joy. That is the meaning of home for me.
