The Meaning of Home

The meaning of home By: Charlie Gauthier, Hubbard Avenue elementary school I remember one time when me and my family spent Christmas at my Mami’s and Ashota’s house. Mami and Ashota live in Quebec, so we had to drive almost 8 hours to get there! It felt longer than waiting for the doctor! When we got there, Mami gave me and my brother a grand hug! On the day before Christmas eve, me, my brother, and my Mami made brownies, caramel, and peanut butter balls. They were all so good! On Christmas day, all my relatives on my dad's side came and we opened presents together! Then we all ate, and after that “Santa” came, but I knew it was just my uncle in a Santa suit I remember getting a skateboard from my dad (Which I still do not know how to use) That was one of the times I felt most at home. A home is not a building with kitchens, bathrooms, closets, and beds. A home is wherever the things and people you love are. And even though I was lucky to be sheltered for Christmas, some people are not. Some people are not as fortunate as others may be, some may not have any shelter at all. So, what are you going to do? Sit around and wait for something to happen? Or are you going to make something happen? Everyone can help by doing small things, like donating food to your local food bank, or donating clothes, or simply donating a few dollars. Small things like this can help a lot, even when you do not realize it. Kind people+ Minor changes = a better world
