Home

Home The Webster's dictionary describes home as “a place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household” but in my opinion, that definition is deeply lacking. Home is a place to build memories. From birth to adulthood, we share a lot of fun and happy as well as challenging difficult times with our family. Around home you see pictures from your youth and history. Home also shares difficult experiences when we forgave, moved on and tried to heal. Some of us have had homes that changed as we escaped to the other side of the world. Parents share stories from when you were younger and about people who came before you. Home is a place where you should feel safe and have happiness. Once, I had a very bad day at school and everything just went wrong. When I came home, I was really tired. Eventually after spending time with my family, by bedtime I was full of joy and I went to bed feeling safe and happy. So, you see, home for me is a safe place where happiness can be found. Home is family. Home isn’t just a physical house. Some people don’t have a house but have a home. Home is a place where you’re with family or someone who is really important to you. I was hiking once and got super tired, I went home to relax and found no one was there, I felt quite lonely. But when everyone is home, even though there might be noise everywhere, I feel super relaxed with family members by my side. It would be incredible if everyone had a home like that. Home is a comfort zone where there will always be someone to be with you. It is where the heart is. In spite of difficult challenges with language, school, work, money, or disappointments, home helps us heal and gives us a place to belong. It doesn’t matter whether home is a foster home or a nursing home, everyone needs a home to give and receive love in.
