The Meaning of Home

Home is not the structure but who is in it. My house on the outside is gray with two trees in my front yard. Inside my house there are three bedrooms and one bathroom and a downstairs and an attic. The most important part though is family. That what makes it feel like home. Home isn’t just one place it is where you feel like you fit in. Home is different for everyone. The family in it are what makes home feel like home. Like in my home I have my mom, Lyle, my sister and myself in it. They love and care about me by greeting me in the morning when I wake up. And even the simplest things like giving me a hug. It doesn’t matter how fancy your home is. Home is not about the marble countertops or how big your house is. It’s the memories that are made in it. Home is where you create memories. I have some memories in my house, like one time Lyle gave my mom a salt lamp for Christmas. And one day Lyle said, “your salt lamp is so salty”, and my mom said, “no its not”. So, my mom licked the lamp and said “Wow! my lamp is salty!” After that my whole family licked it to test it out. It really did taste salty! Home is also a place that you’re familiar with. Home is a place where your family is. Home is where a sense of peace is. They say home is where the heart is. That is why Habitat for humanity is so important. Because everyone deserves a home.
