The comfort of HOME

Eyes shut Head tucked Knees pulled to my chest Tossing turning Gasping for breath A hand holding mine Deep under the covers Warm in the embrace That wipes away my fears Waking up from the nightmares To a soothing voice Calming me Saving me From an deathly quiet void Shaky on my feet A loving form steadies me Depressed and nervous My time will soon be at an end Broken glass Screams all around me A murmur in my ear Picking me up Carrying me To a place far far away Wind pulling me in To a palace made of darkness A commanding voice A hand in the air The wind dies down and gives me strength But in the distance Waiting for me amid all the confusion, Anger and sadness Hope flies like a bird in the sky Arms open wide Face turned heavenward A smile on my face I’m opening up Soaking up the wonderful feeling Reeling with happiness Soaring so high In flight above the path That leads to my destiny A faraway look in my eyes Longing to arrive Heart pounding But eager all the same I rise to my feet Laughter, love and joy mingling together Tears of happiness streaming down my face I was finally there; I was HOME
