"Home"

When I heard about this contest I was intrigued to share with everyone what home means to me and try to win it for my hometown. Home has a big spot in my heart. It's the place where you go every day after school, work, or a hard day. The way I think of my home is simple: two things, love, and family. So let me break these down for you. Love, it is a big part of a home like mine. Every night my family and I sit down to a nice dinner around a table filled with our loved ones. Every week we have one dinner with our grandparents who live nearby. We are a very close family, if anyone is let down or sad, they know that they always have the love of their family on their back, and that always cheers them back up. Family, this is a very important part of my home. For example, let me tell you a quick story about my aunt. She works in a place about an hour from where I live, and she had to live in an apartment so she would only have a short drive to work, but anytime she would come down on the weekends and she went back to her apartment, she would never refer to her apartment as “home”, she would always say “ok, I'm going back to the apartment”. I personally didn't know why she wasn't just calling it home, but now I do, it's because she had none of her family there, it was only her. My aunt just recently moved home and is living with my grandparents, and she is now referring to that house as her home because she is surrounded by the people who mean the most to her.
