Home: We’re All In It Together

A house is a building, a home is a word. A word that means something like, “A place where all is heard.” It’s not just a simple word, it means great things. Like a place of comfort, nature and all sorts of human beings. In this poem, I’ll explain what a home means to me in many ways. The poem will be split into three subjects, each of them filled with their own love and respect. I know about the less fortunate ones, so let this poem show that a home is not a house. A house is completely different from a home, and I know some definitions that some people might not know. Here is the first thing you should hear: A home is a place of comfort that’s sincere, A place where you should be happy, Because you know the future is near. The next thing I have for you is that a home is a community too! It may not seem so true, but it’s a place where everyone will understand you. Welcoming people, alike and different, But truth be told, they’re all magnificent. The last of the three, I’ll tell you with glee: Home is the earth, might you agree? The beauty of the flowers, plants and trees, they all come together for you to see. In each aspect of the world, there’s a different place, in it’s own different space. But there’s also the fact that nature helps your needs, like the oxygen from the trees. Wouldn’t you agree that a home could be all these? We’re all citizens of our ever-expanding world, Wouldn’t you call all that a home? You heard my opinion, now let’s hear yours. Thank you Habitat For Humanity for letting me share these words!
