A Safe Home

A house has some walls, windows and doors, but a home is where memories are made. I am lucky to be able to call my house a home because so many people do not have one. I am extremely grateful to live in a warm and safe space. Some people are fortunate enough to have a house but it is not a safe place to live. A home does not have to be a house as long as you feel safe and comfortable that is what a home is. At home, I feel safe and protected because of my parents. My parents are always protecting me and my dad always says, “If anyone ever tries to get in this house they will have to go through me first.” Whenever my dad says that, it makes me feel like the luckiest person in the world. To make me feel even safer my mom got us security cameras and everytime we leave my dad talks to us through the camera. The only place I really feel safe is my home. Everywhere else (especially in public places) makes me feel nervous. It is kind of hard to describe, but being at home just makes me feel safe and calm. It is like the peanut butter in a peanut butter sandwich. I don’t feel nervous at my grandparents and aunts house, I just don’t like being at stores and malls because I don't have the same comfort that I have in my own home. I feel safe at home when I’m with my family. I love hugging my family because that hug is like a forcefield that cannot be destroyed. My favourite moments are with my family and most of them involve my home. Cooking is also an important part of my family because we love food just as much as we love to be together. The biggest thing of all is that a home should be safe. I am so grateful to have one. I hope that someday everyone will have a home too.
