What Home Means To Me

What does home mean to me? When I first heard of this writing contest I wasn’t sure of what to think of it. What does home mean to me? Well a million things came to my mind. Four walls and a roof? That must have been the right answer. But, no. I realized that that’s not what a home is. I had to dig deeper to find out what home really meant to me. So what I did was I closed my eyes and pictured what was in my house. Throughout all the pictures there were people. I’m not talking about strangers. I’m talking about my family, my people. The people who nag you to set the table or do your homework. The people who are always there for you no matter what. You might not always see eye to eye, but at the end of the day you are grateful to have people who care for you. It got me thinking about 2 words house and home. There is a difference. A house is where you live and a home is where you love. So what does home mean to me? Well home is where the heart is. It doesn’t have to be in one certain place. It has to have a certain feeling. I think everyone should have that feeling because it’s a great feeling. It is sad to think that there are people who don’t have that feeling. A place where they can rest their heads after a long day. But “When My arms can’t reach people close to my heart I hug them with my prayers.” My home is a place where I feel safe. It’s a place where I learn to stand tall. My family is my home.
