Home to Me

Home is well- I'm not quite sure how to explain what home means exactly. But I'll give it a go. Home is like a firework. Fireworks need to be broken before they can shine. Often, my home has been a place where I have been sad and felt a little broken. However it's also a place where I have been able to shine because my family brightens my day, and even makes me feel like I can fly. Most of the time, like fireworks, which spend most of their time bundled up and sitting there, I just feel normal. I’m not broken or shining (yet), but I know that one day I will be free! Meanwhile, home is where I can stay until then. Home is like a rainbow, where every colour is a different feeling, Blue represents feeling sadness, red represents anger, yellow represents anxiousness and green represents happiness. Purple might represent being scared. Actually, every colour in the world is in the rainbow, so that means all the feelings are there too. I understand it can be hard sometimes, but sometimes you just have to laugh. Laugh at all the sad times because you got through everything. It's ok to cry. It’s ok to laugh. It’s ok to scream. Even if you don't feel like it, just smile and everything will soon be ok, because you’re home. Home is like a butterfly. Your family is there to protect you like a chrysalis, help you, respect you. Sometimes that isn't the case, and sometimes they will say a few mean words once in a while but they love you a lot. Sometimes they are just so angry they take their rage out on you, but they don't mean it. You are their whole world and they love you a lot. It doesn't matter if you have brothers or sisters, mothers or fathers. As long as you have that one person that will care for you no matter what, everything will be ok. And when you're finally ready to leave, your parents are there to help spread your wings. Home is not just an object. There is so much more to a house than just a regular object with a few walls and a roof. It's a feeling: the feeling of warmth and comfort. It's like a blanket protecting you from the freezing temperatures outside. Your home is there to take care of you and protect you. Your home is there to catch your tears when you're feeling down, the only thing that won't judge you or give you a weird look when you are yourself. Home is home.
