Meaning of home
What does the word home mean to you?
I have thought long and hard about this topic of home, I have now realized that home isn’t a structure that you spend you days and nights in. It is a place where you not only spend time with family and friends but you make memories.
Memories can be large or small, large as in a vacation or as small as even watching movies and laughing. I used to think memories had to be something you did outside the house, at a place where you paid money to have fun for a few hours. Having fun doesn’t need to be bought so you can go on rides and eat at a fancy restaurant, it can be as little as sitting on the couch eating you weight in junk food with family and friends.
The word home is usually associated with a building or structure with four walls a roof over your head and multiple doors. This is a sensitive topic for some. Now some people don’t have that structure or building to seek shelter at, but it doesn’t mean they don’t have the physical home feeling. A house is a place you make your own, but a home is a feeling. A feeling of happiness, a feeling of joy and warmth.
Family can be a touchy topic for some including myself at times, but as long as you stick together and have each others’ backs you are a family. My friends are as real of a family as my own is. If someone is being picked on we help them and if someone is having a bad day we cheer them up. Sometimes all it takes is a compliment or a joke to make someone’s day. Now just like family we get in arguments and it could take minutes, hours, or even days to realize how silly and ridiculous we are acting. What I’m meaning to say is that home isn’t the definition that google gives you.
Home is a place warm you feel accepted for who you are not who people want you to be. Home is a place where you spend time with the people you are closets to you and love the most.
Home is a place where you play fetch with your dog.
Home is a place arguments take place, but after years and years of arguing with others i’ve realised that you never know how life pans out.
I think if it is just an argument an apology will never hurt because you never know what life has instore for the next day.
You never want to feel guilty that you never get to say sorry.
The definition google gives you when you look up home is “A place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household.”
Now that is the technical definition but I think that fits the word house more than the word home.
