What Home Means To Me

WHAT HOME MEANS TO ME When I think of a home, I picture a nice big house, but some people picture the sidewalk or a bench on the street. No one should picture the sidewalk when someone says home. Everyone should have food in their bellies and a roof over their head. A home should keep you dry when it rains, not wet. A home should keep you warm when it snows, not freezing. A home should remind you of what you have. But when someone is sitting on the sidewalk (their home) they are reminded that they are homeless. My home is safe, comfy, clean and happy but some people don’t have that. I'm very glad I'm not homeless. I wish no one lived on the street. It makes me sad when young children go through being homeless, because that is all they’re going to know. Every child should have at least 1 gift on their birthday or Christmas. No one should grow up poor. They NEED 3 meals a day, a bed and proper clothing. Every year, when we go to the Christmas parade around the corner from my home, we take cans of food and toys for those in need. It makes me feel happy that someone who doesn’t usually get presents will get a toy. We also go through our clothes and if they don’t fit anymore we donate them to secondhand stores so other people can use them too. When I give to those in need, I’m grateful for my home.
