The Story of Emma

My dad and I stay in the church. There is a big oak tree outside. I like to watch people come in and out and then drive home. one day I asked dad “where do we live?” Dad said that home is here. One morning I saw dad walk out from the door of a store on the street he doesn’t really go in. He is the only gos there when he has something for me. ”Surprise,” dad said. In his hands was a shiny new comic book. I was so excited to start reading! I said “thank you so much dad!” One night Dad said “let's name the tree”. I said “ okay let's name her Beth” “ya” he said. The next morning I was watching people coming in and out but then I saw somebody walk out and to the other street. sitting there he was holding a sign that said “money please god bless you”. I looked some more then dad called “hey Emma”and said “sweetie I found a boarding school for you and you can stay there! Then dad said “Of course I will come to see you as much as I can''. I stared at him. He was smiling. I was happy but I love it here and I don’t want to leave dad. Then it hit me that's what my dad means “home is here” it means home is when we are together. If i am not with dad Does that mean I am homeless?. “I don’t want to go, it will be like I am homeless,” I said. “ Home is when I am with you. Dad there's a difference between home and a house. Home is here with you and a house is just a building” he smiled. “Okay let's stay here!”
