What Homes Means to Me

When you look at a home from the outside, it could just be a house, a building or maybe a yard. But on the inside, it’s a lot more than just wood and some bricks. Home is a place to make memories, large or small. A place to live with our families, pets and enjoy with our friends. A place that protects you from bad weather and makes you feel safe. A home is a place that is waiting for me when I come home at the end of a busy school day. It’s also a place that greets me with open arms, when I walk through the door. A home is a guarded place to put your belongings and it’s also a place where you can truly be yourself and do what you want without feeling judged. Home is a safe haven and a comfort zone. Whether our houses are big, small, fancy or plain, they are shelters all the same. A home is a friend that knows you better than you know yourself. It is a place where you make and live memories. If we didn’t have memories, most people wouldn’t be the same they are now. They probably won’t smile much or be nearly as careful. Just like memories, dreams are another things that you can store in a home. Dreaming about your future job. Being a firefighter, or a scuba diver, or maybe even an astronaut. If I didn’t have a house, I wouldn’t be able to make the memories that I currently enjoy today. If somebody didn’t have a home they would probably be a lot less hygienic because they have to stay out in the cold. I think everyone, no matter their race, or backround, should still have a house because everyone deserves one.
