Meaning of Home
Home is an interesting thing to talk about. So many people have different ideas about what home is to them. So what is the meaning of home you ask? Well, this is my meaning of home.
If I were to smell home it would be the refreshing air blowing under my nose. It would be chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven. It would be the freshly baked banana bread as I eat it. It would be the smell of pizza cooked on naan bread with the cheesy smell of mozzarella. This is what I would smell if home were a smell.
If I were to taste home I would taste the garlicy, buttery garlic bread with tomato sauce on al dente pasta. I would taste the crunchy creamy avocado toast with a yolky egg on the side and pepper and salt sprinkled on top. Home tastes like Mango Tango flavoured ice cream pulled out of the freezer from Baskin Robbins. If home were a taste it would be my dad’s freshly made orange juice. This is what home would taste if it were a taste.
If home were a sight it would be a wonderful sight of my siblings running around and messing up all the food. It would be my parents taking out the broom and sweeping the mess. It would be the delicious food sitting on the table. It would look like everyone coming down the stairs for the food. This is what home would look like if it were a sight.
If home were a touch it would be the rough feeling of the carpet rubbing against my hands. It would be my white fluffy blanket on me during bedtime. It would be my comfortable bed ready for me to sleep on. If I were to touch home it would be a cozy hug from my baby brother and sister. This is what home would be if it were a touch.
If home were a sound it would be the voice of my siblings learning to talk. It would be the noise of the TV playing movies when my family is sitting on the couch. It would be my family talking about what’s for breakfast and dinner. It would be the sizzling of the pan when I’m making eggs. This is what home would be if it were a sound.
I’m so thankful to Habitat for Humanity for helping people who can’t afford a home and making homes for them. All in all, I would say that to me the meaning of home is what I feel, hear, taste, smell, and see when I think of my home. This is what home means to me.
