On my way home
The bell rings brisk and clear in my ears. Finally. I sigh in relief; the school day is over, and I can go home! I sprint to get all my things ready to put in my backpack. When I’m done, I run outside! My dad is in a meeting for work so today I’ll walk home alone, a pleasure because this means I can slow down and take a detour or two. I start walking and the first thing I see is my gymnastics gym. Today’s a Monday, so I don’t have gymnastics today. And that means I have the whole afternoon absolutely free! I walk past it on to the sidewalk. I keep walking for a while until I get to a crosswalk. But instead of continuing to walk straight and going the fast way, I take a detour and turn right. I take another turn right after but this I go left. It takes me into a short, wooded path. I take it straight forward, but then a fork in the path. I can either take the left part of the fork or go back on to the road I was on before. Keep going straight and end up on another road, or I can take the left path and a winding path to yet another road! I take the left path so I can have some more time to think. Its nice out but a bit chilly too. I walk through the rays of sun dancing on my face. And then I’m almost home. I just have the last stretch of road. I start to jog. And then I start to run. And before I know it, I’m sprinting. With sweat glistening on my brow, I’m home.
Home sweet Home.
