What home means to me
My alarm wakes me with a traditional beep beep but the sound keeps going and I realize it’s the hustle and the bustle of my family. The grind of the coffee machine, the swirl of the smoothie blender, the gentle hum of the teapot, and the faint voices trying not to awaken me. This is home. For me home is not just a cozy structure on a cozy street. Home is about the people on the inside. Home is the knot that ties my family together. It helps us feel joy, overcome difficult things and create amazing memories. Home makes me feel loved and appreciated. One time when I was home alone my house seemed like a structure but when my family came home I realized that home is not just four walls it’s about the people that love and care for you in these four walls.
Traditions grow in a home whether it’s movie nights, puzzles, the elf on the shelf,or picking out a Christmas tree to sit nicely in your home. These traditions become a part of our homes and ourselves. Home is not just a place, it is a sanctuary for me where love, laughter, fear and anger has all happened. Home awaits me waiting for new things to happen. This is what home means to me!
