What Home Means to Me
What Home Means To Me
We have a house and we have a home. Everyone’s home is extremely important to them, while their houses on the other hand aren’t as important. But what is a home? That’s what I’m writing to explain. Homes are for your whole life and include your family, culture and many other things.
Homes are your family, not a specific place. No matter how many times you have moved, as long as your family is with you, you will still have a feeling of home with them. If I move a lot, then many things won’t be constant for me, but since my family will be moving with me, I will end up particularly rooted to them as one of the consistent things in my life. Your family are the people you see the most often. You grow up with your family, learn basic skills with your family, and spend a lot of your time with your family. The result, you develop a very strong bond with them. As I just proved, family is key to a home, next I will talk about something else that’s part of home.
Culture is also a keystone of home. Culture is a specific way of doing things and the reason why societies in different places aren’t all identical. Everyone’s culture is everywhere in their daily lives, even though most of us barely notice it. Why do we use our dominant hand for a knife? Culture. Why is a steering wheel on the left side in Canadian cars? Culture. Since culture is a way of doing things, we (as in Canadians) can be attached to doing certain things a certain way. For example, certain celebrations that are embedded in Canadian culture are often done a certain way, like how Christmas presents go under the tree instead of on the kitchen table. Culture is indeed a keystone of home, next I will talk about another thing that is good for homes.
Friends and other social relationships are great for homes. Friends are great for people to have. Friends make people feel wanted, valued, and like they have someone else to call on. It’s important to have friends, because they can help you through your whole life. If you’re looking for someone to help you with an assignment at school, the chances are you’ll call on a friend. It’s the same with if you’re looking for someone to play with as well. Friends really are great for home, now to conclude this essay.
Homes are consistent, and they include your family, culture and friends among other things. Homes really are critical! I’ve learned a lot about homes and that they are very essential by writing this essay, and I hope that it’s inspired you to help others find their own home.
